Girl Child Initiative Program

Promoting gender equity and school retention of 3,700 girls. Girls from impoverished families view themselves as powerless and with few life options.

Girl Child Initiative Program

  • An estimated 1.8 million Kenya children aged between 6 and 18 who are supposed to be in school have either dropped out or never been in school at all.
  • Girls still get offered fewer of the high visibility, mission-critical roles, and international experiences (what we call “hot jobs”) that are important to reaching the highest levels of leadership.
  • Almost two-thirds of women reported a lack of senior or visibly successful female role models as a major obstacle to their career advancement.
